BTP Italia is an inflation-linked bond aimed partly at households, indexed to Italian FOI inflation (ex-tobacco).

BTP Italia Explained — the mechanics
Coupons and principal step with Italian inflation. There is often a loyalty premium for holders who buy at issue and hold to maturity. Real yield plus inflation is the economic story; the premium is extra.
BTP Italia is a retail-oriented linker tied to Italian FOI inflation (not HICP). It is designed for households, with features that can include a loyalty bonus if you buy at issue and hold to a stated date.
Secondary-market buyers usually do not get that loyalty extra. Price the bond as a linker plus whatever the prospectus still gives you — which may be nothing extra.
FOI versus euro HICP is basis risk if your prices are euro-area CPI. For an Italian household basket, FOI is the closer index.
