Same currency, modest spread. This is a pure euro sovereign-credit comparison.

OATs vs German Bunds — the mechanics

Both are ECB-eligible high-grade bonds. France’s larger deficit and political calendar often keep a positive spread. For a euro liability matcher, both can sit in the same sleeve with different weights.

Same currency. France versus Germany. Duration similar at matched tenors. The spread is politics, deficit, and relative supply.

In calm markets the spread is a few tens of basis points. In stressed elections it can gap. That gap is why the pair is a trade, not a clone.

ECB policy is common. French news is not. Hedge the spread only if that is the bet you meant.

Official sources (France — OATs)

Primary statistics and prospectuses for France — OATs are published by the issuer, not by this newsroom. The labelled links at the end of this page go to those official sites (DMO, TreasuryDirect, Finanzagentur, MEF, AFT, SNB or ECB as relevant).

Our live board is a teaching overlay: dated prints, named sources, estimated ISIN lines. It is not a replacement for the issuer’s calendar.

Punti chiave

  • Same currency.
  • Prices and yields change. When this site quotes them, it dates them on the live board.
  • Credit of a G7 government in its own currency is not the same as a stable screen price, and not the same as a bank deposit.

FAQ

Is the OAT spread always stable?
No. Budget news and elections have widened it sharply in some years.
